I've always just rented. But there are some shops in Dublin that have decent snowboards as far as I remember. Mind you the selection of sizes isn't the best.

I some people who bought from the ski rental place. They got a good deal on their ski's as far as I know. I don't think I would buy in Ireland, as the choice of equipment I've seen in places is quite low tbh.

I've also seen some stuff for sale on ebay.co.uk which could be worth checking out. But make sure you go with trusted sellers !

I got some stuff off ebay and it fell apart pretty quickly. I think they were fakes to be honest. :(
Just come across Blue Tomato Shop | Snowboard & Surf | Snowboards, Boots, Bindings, Snowwear, Streetwear (http://www.blue-tomato.com/en/WelcomeAction.bto) recently, they have a pretty good range of stuff. And not bad on the prices either
I just noticed that there is a bit of a sale on Blue Tomato, so it might be worth checking out. I really like this Roxy Jacket (http://www.blue-tomato.com/en/Snow-Jackets-wms/Roxy-Jewel-Jacket-wms/product.bto?category=200100&baseProduct=39264&brand=249) that has €10 off.

Just looking at this one again :
Snow and Rock in Dundrum Shopping Centre are quite good, and you can buy online. Snow+Rock: Dublin Store (http://www.snowandrock.com/store_dublin.htm)
Great Outdoors , they are just off Grafton street and a store in Cork as well. They have always had a decent selection of clothes available Great Outdoors - Outdoor sports clothing and equipment - Salomon - The North Face - Ripcurl - (http://greatoutdoors.ie/)

These guys provide an excellent service:
Ski Clothing | Ski Jackets | Ski Equipment | Ski Boots | Degre 7 | Barts | Degre 7 | Eider | Icebreaker | Ski Shop (http://www.macski.ie)
I purchased good skis from them, as well as lots of other bits and bobs. Shipping is free if the purchase price goes above a certain value.
They also do ski maintenance (I think)

I have to say that I found the guys in Snow + Rock very good and extremely helpful but unfortunately due to the prices and VAT rate it is much cheaper to buy online from the UK. I have just bought a pair of ex-hire skis from Ski Hire | Snowboard Hire | Clothing Hire | Rent Roof Boxes | Tent Hire | (http://www.edge2edge.co.uk/) for a really good price. I'll post about their condition when they arrive.

I know this is not to do with skiiing...anyone know where would I get a traditional wooden toboggan in Ireland?
snowy : Argos has them (http://www.argos.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=30001&catalogId=1500002451&langId=-1&searchTerms=sledge) , I'm sure there are some other places that sell them online.
