ELITE SKI INSTRUCTOR TRAINING

This program is designed to help individuals with no teaching experience become ski instructors, and even help them get a job.

Whether you are on a gap year, would just like the qualification, or want to get a job as a ski instructor, this program will help you attain your goals.

Based in Thredbo Australia the programme offers the best training and facilities a course can offer. The on hill accommodation means you won’t be commuting 2 hours a day while others are skiing and including your meals and exam costs helps you predict your overall spending during your trip. Thredbo itself is a world class resort with some the best infrastructure in the southern hemisphere. 2 to 3 times more skiing area, snow making and lifts than New Zealand resorts make this a brilliant programme to get your snow sports career going.

The 4 week program includes:

5 hours training each day, 5 days a week
Lift tickets
Catered ski in ski out accommodation in Thredbo Village
APSI membership, manual, pre-course and exam costs
Thredbo Leisure Centre membership
Equipment pro-deals with Nordica
video analysis
weekly progress reports
The opportunity to shadow professional working lessons
job opportunities at the end of the program with Thredbo Snowsports School

Matt I can't connect to your website for some reason. But what I wonder is how skilled I would have to be to qualify. I mean I've been skiing for a few years, but I don't think I have 100% proper technique.

Thredbo is big enough resort it seems Thredbo | Mt Kosciuszko NSW Snowy Mountains | Australian Snow Fields (http://www.thredbo.com.au/)

It would cost about €5400 by the looks of it

I guess €1,000 or so a week is okay. But I still think you could do it cheaper in Europe, rather than spending a further €1,000 to fly to Australia. (sorry)

The one advantage of course is that you could do this in the (Irish) summertime.

The usual criteria used for judging skiing standard before starting a gap programme is to have completed 16 weeks on snow and / or to be able to link medium radius turns on red terrain. In reality for someone in their early twenties with some sporting ability, they could go into a gap with a lot less weeks. €1000 a week is comparable with whats out there. There are a multitude of gap programmes in Canada and Europe with the likes of ski le gap or the rookie academy that average €9000 to €10000 for 9 to 11 weeks. Probably one of the most competitive is with Irish pro ski training for around €6000 for 11 weeks in Soldeu, Andorra. The biggest factor in choice of gap programme after the cost is what you long term ambition is. This will dictate which Instructor system you want to qualify in. It is an awsome lifestyle.

Really the point of our courses is to get you qualified in the early part of the season then let you start working with a job placement so you can earn some money. Also working both hemispheres makes it a sustainable lifestyle if you wish to do it for a while.

If you are a parallel skier with a pole plant then you have enough of a starting level to succeed, which our 100% pass rate shows. If you are looking for a ski holiday with an exam at the end then our course is probably not what you are looking for. We simply train people to become instructors and place them in work if they want. If people are strong enough skiers some don't even do a prep course like ours and simply go to the APSI, CSIA PSIA direct and just do the course and exam.

seriously Matt, I don't think you need to plug your website in every post. Also it looks like you are talking to yourself, when you reply to yourself in the thread !

Totally right, it adds nothing to the board here. I will ask Paul to shut it.

Would love to be an adapted skiing instructor, just wondering if anyone has had any experience in the area and what's it like??!:)
