First time skiing & young family

Hi
i would like some help
i would like to go skiing for first time,
my wife any 4 year old daughter.
Can anybody recommend where to go and best time.
Where to stay /ski gear/ski pass/good hotel/good for kids

i am trying to book a christmas gift for family

You should look for a resort that has more than a few blue slopes, these are the ones for beginners. Seeing as your kid is so young it would also be better to try and fly as close to the ski location. I can recommend Switzerland for you , but you should go for ar a less touristy ski area, try Toggenburg (Kt. St. Gallen).

It's about 1 1/2 hours commuting time from Zurich. There are also little guest houses planted all around though they are not 5 star resorts. Just from experience, an adult with 2 kids overnight with breakfast is 160Sfr. There are 3 continuous ski areas and great for children.

KaiserWelt at Scheffau in Austria is pretty suited to kids and family. My brother (and his young family) had a great time there 2 years ago.

Skied a little resort on the Milky Way in Italy called Claviere, a lovely little compact resort, I think would be Ideal for bigenners and children. Its about a 2h transfer from Turin.

most ski resorts are suitable for beginners. Remember we were all beginners at once stage. Don't worry all the ski schools will offer lessons in English where ever you go. Just remember to bring a digital camera to get some of the falls on video !

Hope you have fun. Be prepared for your four year old to be better than you, at skiing, by end of hol. Went to Saalbach last New Year with hubby, 14 yr old, 9 yr old and 4 yr old. By end of week hubby and oldest flying, nine year old looked like he had jet pack on back coming down mountain without poles! And four year old never fell once. I skied down the nursey slope once without falling and thought I was great!! They are all mad to go again this year but bringing a family is quite dear so will wait til next year. Once you get the bug, no more summer hols!! Let me no how it goes. Oh and hi everyone else. First time on and its a great site!

my sister just booked a holiday at Stubaier Gletscher, in Austria , it's near Innsbrucj. She said she thinks that they may have an offer where children under 10 are free !
