Hi all,

Thinking of arriving and departing from Vienna in February. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 kids (8, 11 & 12 - intermediates). Can you recommend any good resorts within 2 to 2.5 hours from Vienna airport that would be family friendly. Hotel recommendations would also be useful. We previously spent time in Zell am see and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks in advance.

Zell am See is about 4 hours from Vienna, so that is probably too far away.

1. Kaprun, Austria
2. Saalbach, Austria
3. Mayrhofen, Austria
are all in the Zell am See area and would be worth a visit.

But back to the task at hand, resorts near Vienna.
1. Stuhleck - Semmering, Austra is about 1 hour from Vienna
2. Annaberg, Austria is about 2 hours away.

Both of these are top rated resorts.

Thanks Paul.
We are hoping to have between 12 to 15 of us and will be looking for a nice chalet (catered or otherwise) in that region (semmering/Annaberg). If anyone hears of of a nice chalet for those numbers, it would be great. I know I'm getting optimistic here but one with a hottub would be ace.

Gliggers, the options are endless. If you contact some of the local tourist offices, they will be able to point you in the right direction for organising your skiing accomodation yourself.

And a hot tub would be a great idea ! Eventhough I think you will see them really only in US / Canadian resorts.

Thanks ClaireBear.

I think you're right about the hot-tub situation at least in terms of austrian resorts. Our situation has now changed somewhat as our dates are now changing to a quieter week in feb ^th to 13th) and the flights into Genva look good at that time. After a quick look, it does look like we can get chalets in france and switzerland with hot tubs so I think I will post another thread to help in that regard. Thanks for your advice.
