I will be doing some skiing in France and need to get some ski insurance in case I fall down and go REAL boom.
I have found a lot of British companies, but can't seem to find any Irish companies willing to do it unless I let them also do the trip planning.
Anyone know of an independent source?

I would check with VHI/BUPA, it may be part of your insurance already or you might have to pay a small amount to get coverage. If you are looking for any reason why you should get it, then look at the injuries thread. The E111 will only cover emergency surgery, but when you come you may need more medial attention or physiotherapy, which the E111 doesn't cover.

I normally organise my insurance with the company I am booking with. Is it that much cheaper to try and source your own insurance ? Also try regular insurance companies or broker. I'm sure that places that do car insurance will also offer extreme/winter sports insurance.

I got yearly insurance from Essential Travel and it worked out about €50/year for me. And see if I go 3 or 4 times within 12 months, it's really worth it.

I am covered by my credit card, all I have to do is to make sure that I book with the card and VISA will insure me. This might be worth checking out, I think it's for Platium members or equivalent. Either way skiing insurance is essential, I've seen the injuries thread here and it makes me even more sure it is !
