Been there twice Cathy. Didn't stay in Olympiades but they could hardly be better placed. They are right in the slope, true ski in ski out. If it is icy in the morning just watch yourself entering the piste as it can get very icy, right at the Olympiades if snow is scarce. In 2007, when snow was very poor, I lost count of the number of falls I saw at that point. But last year, it was absolutely fine.

The ski school is quite good. Depends on who you get, as I found somewhat of a difference between the instructors that various of our groups had. In my case I had top class guys both times but my wife's instructor was not the best last time out, although the previous time she had her favourite instructor ever (from about 6 or 7 weeks school to date).

We found a few good places for food. La Copa was good. If you walk out the front of Olympiades and down the hill, you will come to a hairpin corner. Opposite is the Milwalkee bar, quite a good place, and just around the corner on the left is La Copa.

There are also a couple of nice places across the opposite of the piste form Olympiades, near La Frontera Blanca apartments. I can remember the names but you will see them. One had a lunch time special menu for €7 which we availed of a few times.

When you arrive in Pas, the bus can't get up through the town so you will have to walk and they bring your suitcase in a minivan. It will be waiting on the footpath outside your accommodation. I didn't like this arrangement so last time I wheeled my own case along. Be warned, its a steep walk up to the Olympiades from the bus.

As for the skiing, the Grau Roig side is a little nicer, IMO, but Pas is good too if they have good snow.

I won't be far from you in March as I'm flying to Soldeu the same day as you. Here's to a week of snow before we go and a week of sunshine when we are there!

The bus transfer is long enough. Expect about 3 hours 20 with a stop after about 1:50 at a place where all the busses stop. Its a panini and coffee type of place . They do chips at an outside stall but they are usually undercooked and greasy so I recommend you head inside. The queue for the ladies loo is often a mile long (well, not quite a mile). You might want to send hubby in for the coffee while you queue as you don't want to miss the bus.

Thats the initial "brain dump". if I think of anything else I'll add it later.

John

Ah thank you so much for all that info John, we're so chuffed. Hopefully there'll be plenty of snow and i hope you have a cracking time on yours. I think i'll take your advice on sending the hubby in for coffee thanks. We went to pamporova last christmas and although we enjoyed we only had one day of nice skiing on powder the rest of the time was ice and stones, so hopefully we'll all get plenty this year, fingers crossed. Sorry John my hubbies priorities are a bit different to mine and he's asked me to ask you how much a pint is? Thank you for all the info

Cathy

Hi,

We're also heading for Pas on Feb 28th til March 7th staying in the Frontera Appartments. What date are you's going?

Cathy..... We must of whizzed by each other on the slopes of Pamporovo last year, yes the snow was bad all week apart from that Powder day Friday, but we went back in March last year and it was a totally different place with any amount of snow.

We were looking for somewhere a bit bigger this year so we went to Serre Chevalier in France 3 weeks ago. Great skiing with 250km of pistes but comes at a cost, no nightlife what so ever as everyone is spread out over 4 villages.

So we decided to go Pas de la Casa next in the hope of getting both great skiing and a good atmosphere. After reading through reveiws on the net, I think we've a good choice, don't really mind the long transfer as the flight out is good and early.

Hi Ultan

We're going out on the 7th March for 1 week. We've only ever been to Pomporova, our first time there was just perfect, but we went in February so maybe that's why we had brilliant snow and our ski school instructor was amazing and so much fun. So when we wanted another ski holiday we automatically thought pomporova but unfortunatley last chritmas wasn't the best for ski conditions, and it was sad as we took some new friends with us who had never skied before and we'd bragged pomporova up to them quite a bit but at least they experienced 1 brilliant day on the slopes before we had to leave. Anyway we think we've picked a good choice this year (fingers crossed) as in the slopes, there seems to be so much choice there and the nightlife sounds good and we've got a short flight, 1hour 45mins i think so we don't mind the transfer either as we arrive there at half past nine in the morning Ooooo so excited, can't wait to go, 6 weeks to go. I hope you have a brilliant time and the conditions are top notch for you
