I am going over to CHAMONIX for some skiing and was wording were would be the best place to rent and how much thanks

Don't worry about renting equipment, there will be plenty of places in the town, and 100% certain that they will have shops just before the slopes too.

If you really do want to plan everything there are some sites out there that will allow you to rent skis before you get there like http://ski-hire.twinner-sports.co.uk/ .

I normally don't worry about organising my ski rental until I am there. The last time I asked the owner of the B&B where I stayed in where he recommended, and he gave me a voucher for 10% discount off a weeks rental. Chaminox is big and will have lots of choices where to rent (and buy) ski gear. I would pick a place near the slope, if you want to they will probably allow you to store the gear there every day after skiing, so you can do your last run and hit the aprés ski scene.
