Smile Winter Olympics in Vancouver 2010

Well I'm pretty excited about the up coming Vancouver Winter Olympics. Personally I tend to find them little more interesting and better TV viewing than the summer ones. My favourite event is the speed skating.

I do wonder what type of sceptical it will turn out to be, after the last Olympics in China I wonder will this one be such fiasco with scandals like the the drugs or the under age athletes.

I wonder will Jamaican bob sled team be back for some Cool Runnings.

But I did find an anti site doing some searching for the Olympics, namely http://www.olympicshame2010.com/
where they call out the Canadian seal hunters / clubers.

I am a fan too, I like the Biathlon with all the shooting in it, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biathlon
but I was surprised to see that women have only been doing the biathlon since 1992 in Albertville ! I also like the speed skating and the luge. I saw on TV today that there are over 80 events (86 to b exact) at the games this year.

I read yesterday that they are going to have to import snow into the competition.Vancouver has had the warmest winter since 1937 ! They will truck and push and fly it in from surrounding mountains. And even said put hay down in some areas so they don't have to spend so much creating a base. Now this is really sad. I know you don't have control over the weather, but I think it will take away from the games if there isn't proper snow there.

Anyway, kickoff is in 2 weeks !

here is the article I read : http://www.sltrib.com/travel/ci_14295790

I too am starting to get excited, my favourite would be ski cross. Have a look at the New York times pictures. It's a crazy sport, and great to watch. There is some great things to read and see on that site, like this video about 1/2 pipe snowboarding : http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/s...tml?ref=sports

Well it all kicked off last night. It did have a sad story about the Georgian Olympian dying. I stayed up and watched the ceremony, and it was class, the stage did look like something out of a Superman movie (I'm thinking planet krypton).

it is a bit weird that the google logo has a luge guy in it after the Georgian died, but I guess you can't time for everything
